96-97 points Tyson Stelzer (The Champagne Guide): "(30% chardonnay, 70% pinot including 5% Ambonnay red wine; aged 58 months on lees). Francis Egly’s Rosé is a similar composition to his Brut Tradition, with a very small addition of just 4–5% red wine, ‘since it is very concentrated’. Red wine is sourced from plots close to those for his Ambonnay Rouge, a little lower in quality here. ‘Our aim is to make the best wine possible and then blend a little red wine into it,’ he explains. ‘I am looking for a wine with a lot of tension, unlike a saignée style.’ Rumbling power with delicate finesse, this is a delightful rosé of pretty pale salmon hue that bears witness to Francis Egly’s talent in drawing out the succulent, luscious, creamy structure of ripe fruit fermented in barrel and transposing it gracefully on the lively freshness and chalk minerality of Ambonnay. The 2012 and 2013 represent spectacular renditions, bursting with the exuberance and beguiling transparency of Ambonnay pinot noir. Sensational perfume of rose hip, fig and mixed spice sings with the pinpoint purity of the village, to a thundering undercurrent of grand complexity of dark fruit cake and spice, yet at every instant light, refreshing and breathtakingly energetic. Francis Egly’s genius is on grand display here in achieving acidity so lively and so focused, and yet ripe, full and enticing. Chalk minerality underscores every magnificent moment. (2020-2021)"

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "[$170 list] Also brilliant, the lighter salmon-hued NV Grand Cru Brut Rosé has a captivating nose of orange blossom, toasted bread, honeysuckle, dried flowers, and spice. With flawless balance, medium to full body, integrated acidity, building richness, and a great, great finish, this is another spectacular wine in the lineup to drink over the coming 10-15 years or so. Drink: 2020-2036. (11/24/20)"

95 points La Revue du Vin de France: "The rosé, with a base of 2017, composed of pinot noir and chardonnay, distills oriental notes that mingle with spices, pink pomelo and tangerine peel. This is a full-bodied rosé with superb persistence. (2025)"

94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Based on the 2016 vintage and disgorged in early 2022, Egly's NV Brut Rosé Grand Cru is now bottled in dark glass, protecting it from light strike. Bursting with aromas of pear, tangerine, cherries and toasted almonds, it's medium to full-bodied, pillowy and vinous, with racy acids and a long, sapid finish. This brilliant, characterful wine is worth a special effort to seek out. Drink: 2022-2035. (8/31/22)"

93 points Wine Spectator: "Opulent aromas and flavors of smoky grilled nut and toasted brioche, baked apricot and raspberry fruit, pastry cream and crystallized honey show in this expressive rosé Champagne, yet the spine of rapierlike acidity and the satiny mousse are finely integrated, lending an elegance to the full-throttle flavor profile. Disgorged July 2019. Best from 2022 through 2027. 150 cases imported. (11/30/20)"

Richard Juhlin: "This firm was established in 1930 and nowadays Michel Egly owns 7.7 hectares at Ambonnay, a third of a hectare at Bouzy and one and a half a hectare at Verzenay as well as 2 hectares Meunier in Vrigny. The average age of the vines is 35 years, with 60 years for the prestige wines. The wines are phenomenally great and rich. The grower is very close to gaining five stars through his fantastic development in recent years. Probably the foremost grower of Pinot Noir in the entire Champagne region nowadays..."
