95 points La Revue du Vin de France: "A little spicy, Lavaux Saint-Jacques is reserved, but its velvety, intense matter becomes deep and full-bodied, with a sensation of fine sweetness and an impressive silkiness of tannins. (2023)"
95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Besides the fact that Pierre Duroché is an ace winemaker and this is a stunning Premier Cru in general, this wine is also terrific because the oldest parcels are 97 years old and the youngest are already 50. Scented and long on the concentrated blackberry and black plum flavors, this wine feels like it is floating across the palate. It is incredibly finessed despite its über concentration. The vineyard only produced 15 hl/ha in 2020! 2022-35. (2022).
92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a beguiling, tertiary, wet limestone tinged bouquet with precise red berry fruit and touches of bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, quite saline in the mouth, building towards a lightly spiced, tensile finish that lingers. Wonderful. Drink: 2023-2040. (Dec 2021)"
92+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut Saint-Jacques is quite tightly wound, exhibiting notions of dark berries, loamy soil, spices, licorice, vine smoke and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, bright and lively, with powdery tannins and a saline finish, it's more reserved out of the gates than the more demonstrative 2019 at the same stage. Drink: 2025-2045. (Jan 2023)"
