95 points/'Le Coup de Coeur,' La Revue du Vin de France: "Quite a wild nose, with brambles and mint, and a spicy freshness in the Lavaux Saint-Jacques. Refined on the palate, backed by rich tannins and a smooth volume, with a very pure finish. (2022)"

94 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Another glowing purple colour. The bouquet is just a touch riper, more floral than the 2018, but it is not overdone. Full on strawberries on the palate, threatens lushness but stops short, but it does not quite have the grip at the back. Feels a little warmer. If this sounds like damning with faint praise, it is only because of the brilliance of some of the wines alongside. (Nov 2021)"

94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques 1er Cru was the last cuvée to be picked and is completely destemmed this year. It has a vibrant, energetic bouquet of red cherries, wild strawberry and crushed stone aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers fleshy red fruit mixed with veins of blueberry, quite rounded and plush toward the finish. Its velvet texture renders this Gevrey deceptively approachable, but there is real structure underneath. Classy. Drink: 2023-2043. (Dec 2020)"

93-94 points/'Very Fine,' Steen Öhman (Winehog): "Following on, the tremendous Domaine Duroché Lavaut St. Jacques 2019 (there is also a Lavaut Vieilles Vignes – see below). This is a fresh, refined wine even in the regular cuvée, with layers of fresh millerandage grapes giving a fine hedonistic note. The nose is brimming with fruit, zen-like and balanced with generous strawberry notes. There’s a surprisingly big difference from the Lavaut Vieilles Vignes, but this wine is delightful – although perhaps more hedonistic than point-scoring. Drink From 2030. (7/10/20)"

93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Notes of raspberries, plums, spices, candied peel, woodsmoke and rose petals introduce the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut Saint-Jacques, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered wine, built around lively acids and velvety tannins. Displaying fine depth at the core, it will offer a broad drinking window. Drink: 2025-2055. (Jan 2022)"

'Outstanding'/91-93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from an impressive 1.2 ha parcel). A classic Gevrey nose with plenty of earth and sauvage characters gives way to a completely different mouthfeel to the intense, robust and muscular middle weight plus flavors that possess excellent richness and underlying material along slight better complexity and persistence on the more structured finale. A classic LSJ. Drink: 2034+. (Jan 2021)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(1.20 hectares, a part (which follows) planted in 1923 – in all 6 parcels). Starting compact but my extra swirling brings a little extra interest – slowly adding more visible depth of aroma – always improving. More power, a little more weight and certainly more visible tannin – but still such a fine grain. Long and quite powerful finishing – a rather mineral impression too and not with the facile sweetness of many wines in 19. Excellent wine. (Jan 2021)"
