97 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "A total knock-out, the 2017 Pinot Noir Ryan Jentoft Vineyard is a wine of real depth and intensity. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, cloves, lavender and licorice give the Jentoft a real sense of brooding power. There is plenty of Russian River exuberance to match the potent tannins. Far from an easygoing supple Russian River Pinot, the 2017 needs time to soften. It is every bit as impressive today as it was last year. Drink: 2022-2032. (Apr 2020)"

97 points PinotFile: "14.1% alc. Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Lovely aromas of black cherry, cardamom spice, dark rose petal and Bailey’s Irish Cream. I could not get enough of this nose and I would have been perfectly happy to just inhale the aromas without drinking the wine. Flat-out delicious mid-weight plus, sumptuous flavors of black cherry and black raspberry, with a compliment of engaging spice. A full gulp of fruit yet the wine has polish and agreeability, and flows like silk across the palate. There are absolutely no hard edges in this ephemeral wine that grabs on like tentacles and refuses to give up its hold on the finish. (8/22/21)"

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "From a Russian River Valley site planted in 2007, the 2017 Pinot Noir Jentoft Vineyard Ryan is a selection of Swan and Calera clones and sees 15 months in 45% new French oak. This brilliant wine knocks it out of the park with its complex bouquet of darker fruits, smoked earth, and spice. Medium to full-bodied, incredibly layered and multi-dimensional on the palate, it’s a complete, flawless balanced, incredibly impressive wine that will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise over the following decade. This lineup is stacked with terrific wines, but this is one of the standouts. Drink: 2021-2031. (6/14/19)"

93 points Erin Brooks (Wine Advocate): "Pale to medium ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir Ryan Jentoft Vineyard has a lovely nose of dusty earth, pink peppercorn, dried lavender and garrigue with amaro, orange peel, autumn leaves and fresh tobacco accents. It's light to medium-bodied and silky with slowly blossoming flavor layers, a light framing of ripe, grainy tannins and lip-smacking acidity, finishing very long and layered with great energy. Drink: 2020-2027. (Dec 2019)"

Producer notes: "The wine opens with a sense of tiny dark intense wild berries, tart and explosive, pine needle freshness and hints of cedar amplifying the aromas. The palate is sappy, dark and elevated with Rainier cherry, cassis and huckleberry fruits. There’s laser-like intensity to the wine’s driving flavors as they expand along the dry, firm palate, exotic floral, gravelly nuances extending the lingering finish. No need to decant. Drink between 2020 and 2027."
