91-94 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1.16 ha parcel). A very ripe liqueur-like nose speaks of cassis, black cherry and a plenitude of floral nuances. The succulent and punchy flavors possess slightly better density before terminating in a powerful and slightly chewy but long finale. Seysses noted that this was one of the last wines to finish its malo so it's not surprising that it is more primary and backward and my predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt that the finish will better harmonize in time. Drink: 2035+. (Jan 2025)"
90-94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes finished its malolactic in September, so it's no surprise that it was one of the most inscrutable wines of the tasting. Offering up aromas of cassis and spices, it showed good fruit and underlying structure, but to say much more would be an exercise in more than usually creative writing. (1/30/25)"
93 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "This is a wine of sheer delight that I have marked down just a bit for its abv warmth. (Though not overly distracting, it is noticeable…and the wine is freezing cold, so it is likely more prominent at proper drinking temperature.) Savory spice, star anise, drying summer blooms and cherry compote dazzle on the palate. (2025)"
