94-97 points Fine Wine Review: "Aux Combottes is surrounded on all sides by grand cru vineyards and has often been touted as a premier cru that deserves grand cru status. I once asked Jeremy Seysses whether he would like to see Combottes promoted to grand cru and he gave a most sensible response: better a top premier cru than a mediocre grand cru. But in 2018, there’s no doubt that the wine is of grand cru quality. Pure red cherry fruit in the nose. Mouth is dense, pure, mineral with red cherry fruit, smooth texture, and medium weight. Dujac’s plot is in the southwest corner of the vineyard, next to Clos de la Roche, on clay soils (part of the vineyard is on sandy soils). (4/23/20)"

95 points Tim Atkin, MW (2020).

92-95 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Glowing purple, with some elegance to the nose despite the richness of the fruit, liqueur cherries, delicious fruity which totally covers the structure. This is going to make a gorgeous bottle, balanced and long. (Nov 2019)"

93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2018 Combottes chez Seysses is also outstanding and beautifully red fruity this year. The bouquet is pure and very expressive already, offering up scents of cherries, strawberries, woodsmoke, raw cocoa, a great base of soil tones, gamebird, a touch of new oak and lovely, delicate spice tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is long, pure and very classy in personality, with a sappy core of red fruit, excellent soil signature, fine-grained tannins and a long, precise finish of impressive backend tension. Fine, fine juice. 2031-2070. (Nov/Dec 2019)"

93+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes is also performing very well, wafting from the glass with aromas of blackberries, cassis and sweet soil tones, complemented by hints of warm spices and violets. Medium to full-bodied, lively and elegant, it's seamless and enveloping, concluding with youthfully chalky grip on the finish. Drink: 2025-2050. (1/14/21)"

93 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "An admirably discreet application of wood frames the very pretty and equally perfumed nose that flashes ripe notes of cassis, red currant and an impressive range of spice and floral elements. The medium weight flavors are not especially dense though the mid-palate texture is refined and lilting, all wrapped in a dusty, youthfully austere and complex finish. I like the sense of energy and while firm, this is not so structured as to be unapproachable after only 5-ish or so years. With that said, it's built to reward 12+. Drink: 2030+. (Jan 2021)"
