94-96 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2023 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru is beautiful, unwinding in the glass to reveal aromas of cherries, raspberries, violets and spices. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's fleshy and sensual, its pure core of fruit structured around powdery, melting tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, saline finish. (1/30/25)"
94-96 points/'Don't miss!' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1.48 ha holding in 3 different climats). A more elegant, spicier and even more floral-suffused nose is composed by notes of both red and dark cherry and a whiff of exotic tea. The super-sleek, delineated and utterly delicious medium-bodied flavors also possess a highly beguiling texture while displaying stunningly good length on the moderately austere, balanced and equally built-to-age finale. Sheer class. Drink: 2040+. (Jan 2024)"
93-96 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "A dense crimson purple. Fractionally reductive on the nose, rather firm as a result. Dark cherries on the palate, the reductive element continues. Harder to judge today. Slightly fuller and more cheerful at the finish, and this may yet grow further. (Nov 2024)"
93-95 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has slightly more black fruit on the nose, intermixed with sous-bois, tobacco and crushed mineral scents. It has superb delineation but is restrained at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. This is quite an elegant and poised Clos Saint-Denis. Its silky tannins, judiciously spiced toward the finish, seem to stumble, whereas the Clos de la Roche just "glides." Drink: 2028-2050. (Jan 2025)"
94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Seysses family’s 2023 Clos St. Denis is another stunning wine in the making, but it is almost equally reserved and structured today as the Bonnes-Mares and is also going to want plenty of cellaring time before it will start to stir. The bouquet is refined and nicely black fruity in personality this year, offering up scents of black cherries, plums, dark chocolate, a beautiful base of soil, woodsmoke, pigeon, mustard seed and cedary new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and shows off fine depth at the core, with a nicely structured personality, fine soil transparency and grip, fine-grained tannins and lovely balance on the long, complex and very promising finish. 2038-2095. (Jan/Feb 2025)"
