94-96 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "The grapes come equally from Charmes and Mazoyères-Chambertin, though the surface area is greater in the latter. A fine deep crimson purple. The nose is full of energy with a classy ripe fruit, dark strawberry and plum, then the oak slightly takes over on the palate. No worry about that, this wine will storm on through. A very good example, ripe yet satisfying. (Nov 2024)"

94-96 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very appealing bouquet, commendable purity of fruit and finely delineated hints of black cherry, raspberry and licorice. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins. There's a beguiling balance and nuance here. This is a total step-up from the Combottes Premier Cru this year, with a long and quite sensual finish. Recommended. Drink: 2027-2047. (Jan 2025)"

94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "We had tried to wake up the sleeping Combottes prior to moving onto the Charmes-Chambertin, as the two wines were in the same general vicinity in the cellars and Jeremy saw no reason not to taste similar terroirs in succession. After the shut down Combottes, the stunningly inviting and generous ’23 Charmes-Chambertin was a complete pleasure to taste. The beautiful bouquet hops from the glass in a stunning blend of red and black plums, cherries, raw cocoa, gamebird, a complex base of soil, cedary oak and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, vibrant and sappy at the core, with great soil transparency, ripe tannins and impeccable balance on the long and complex finish. Great juice. 2037-2090. (Jan/Feb 2025)"

94 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "A combination of two plots each in Charmes and Mazoyères, this starts with a smoky nose, oodles of bramble and freshly turned earth. Spice rack and crème de cassis add to the palate, creating a moreishly wild array of flavors. The tannins feel rugged and prominent, likely due to the frosty sample. This seems to have all of the elements of a genuinely charming Charmes and a wine with solid age-worthiness. (2025)"

92-94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is one of the more muscular, concentrated wines in the range, offering up aromas of cherries, dark berries, cassis bud and spices, followed by a full-bodied, deep and layered palate framed by ample reserves of sweet, powdery tannin. It's one 2023 that isn't so far removed from the style of its 2022 counterpart. (1/30/25)"

92-94 points/'Don't miss!' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a total of .70 ha in both Charmes and Mazoyères). Light reduction is enough to push the fruit to the background. The palate impression of the medium-bodied flavors though is fresh and bright with a gorgeous, indeed silky, mouthfeel that contrasts markedly with the robust and borderline rustic finale that is very firmly structured. This is promising but be prepared to be at least moderately patient. Drink: 2038+. (Jan 2024)"
