98 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "After fermenting as whole clusters and ageing in 70% new casks, the wine has an exotic perfume, with a pronounced pomegranate and black cherry fruit, hints of anise, liquorice, mineral and a savoury, smoky edge. It is tannic and firm, dense with extract, and very long on the finish. Superb. Dujac now farms more than a half-hectare of Bonnes-Mares, including the historical parcels of the domaine on the terres rouges (red clay) soils at the bottom of the slope, as well as the terres blanches acquired further upslope due to the Moillard transaction. Drinking Window: 2025-2060. (Oct 2021)"
96-98 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is one of the high points of the range. Revealing aromas of peonies, rose petals, Griotte cherries, pomegranate, blood orange and warm spices, it's full-bodied, layered and velvety, with a deep and perfumed core and supple tannins. It's remarkably seamless, even charming, for a wine that's often the most introverted and slow-evolving in the Dujac cellar. (Jan 2022)"
97 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Wildly expressive in the glass, this starts with black cherries and Damson plums along with perfumed floral lift. There's a smoked fruit note on the broad, taffeta-like palate packed with spices. The tannins are assertive – possibly some from the significant whole cluster use as well as the generous new oak – while the acidity seems to float in the background. This hails from both soils of Bonnes Mares: the red and the white. 2025-45. (2022)"
95-97 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a tightly-wound bouquet, quite linear and conservative for a Bonnes-Mares, lightly spiced with hints of tobacco and sea spray. The palate is well balanced with sappy black fruit, fine acidity, impressive density with a grippy but detailed, refreshingly minerally finish. This has a skip in its step, a beautifully-crafted Bonnes-Mares that will age with style. Drink: 2026-2050. (Dec 2021)"
94-97 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "A darker purple, more sombre, really quite backward. Very dark raspberry notes here, a little coffee, a little chocolate. This has the densest body of the range to date with a wonderful grainy texture, warm fruit but no overt alcohol. I can see this wine taking a long slow road to its eventual drinking window, by which point it may very well blossom beyond what we can see today. (Dec 2021)"
96 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2020 Bonnes-Mares from Domaine Dujac was also still in cask and a touch reductive, as was the case with the Malconsorts. But, the Bonnes-Mares proved a touch less reticent with swirling in the glass than was the case with the Malconsorts and eventually blossomed to show notes of dark berries, black cherries, bitter chocolate, a touch of new leather, woodsmoke, gamebird and a nice framing of nutty new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and seamlessly balanced, with a great core of black fruit, fine soil undertow and grip, ripe, firm tannins and a long, vibrant and potentially velvety finish. Fine juice in the making. 2038-2110. (Nov/Dec 2021)"
94-96 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(Don't miss!) A surprisingly open and expressive nose freely reveals its aromas of wild red berries, anise, clove, rose petal and crushed herb. The intense, serious, muscular and precise big-bodied flavors deliver equally good persistence if not quite the same complexity, at least not yet. However, given that this is even more firmly structured, it should enjoy an exceptionally long aging curve and thus much more depth will almost surely develop. We will in time see. Drink: 2040+. (Jan 2022)"
