98 points (19/20) La Revue du Vin de France: "The Mazis-Chambertin is slightly more blood-like on the first nose, followed by a touch of vanilla, even pastry cream, spices, or blueberry tart. The wine is long and broad, with a remarkably silky texture. It rises with more velvety smoothness, long, ripe fruit, and magnificently soft tannins. The wine finishes with a peacock's tail—warm, a sign of beautifully ripe grapes. It feels like chewing on small slightly shriveled grapes. (2016)"

96 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from .25 ha parcel of 60+ year old vines planted at a density of 14,000/ha in Mazis-Bas - vinified with 95% stems). This is aromatically reticent to the point of being all but mute though determined swirling finally reveals an abundance of floral, earth, spice and wet stone nuances on the dark berry fruit liqueur scents. I love the mouth feel of the mineral-driven, powerful and broad-shouldered flavors that possess superb mid-palate concentration along with the same almost painful intensity of the Mazoyères on the sappy and massively long finale. As it usually is this is a big, even massive wine yet the balance is impeccable. Note well however that this is old school and will need every bit of 20 years to divulge its full, and considerable, potential. Drink: 2033+. (Jan 2016)"

94+ points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(vinified with 90% whole clusters; the yield here was just under 20 hectoliters per hectare): Medium ruby. Wild, soil-inflected aromas of black- and redcurrant, black cherry, pepper, animal fur and underbrush, complicated by a suggestion of iron. Plush and sweet but vibrant and dynamic too, showing outstanding cut and lift to the slightly sauvage dark fruit and licorice flavors. Finishes with a distinctive cool, peppery quality and terrific verve and length. The serious tannins spread out to coat the incisors and palate without leaving any impression of dryness. This powerful wine should be very long-lived. Drink: 2026-2043. (Mar 2016)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "The 2013 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru includes 90% whole-bunch fruit. It has greater perfume on the nose compared to the Mazoyeres, more floral and seductive with great purity. The palate is opulent and velvety with ripe and succulent tannins, layers of cassis and blackcurrant fruit with a svelte, lush finish. This is very fine, although I perceive more tension on the Mazoyères at the moment. Drink: 2020-2040. (Dec 2014)"
