94-96 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "I would never have guessed the 2011 Mazis-Chambertin was made with 100% whole clusters given how intense, rich and powerful it is. This is an unusual Mazis with little of the sensuality typical of this site. Instead, the fruit is explosive and powerful to the core. The huge tannins will test readers' patience, but those who can wait will be treated to something special. The Mazis was aged in 100% new oak. Drink: 2021-2036. (Mar 2014)"
95 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from .25 ha parcel of 60+ year old vines planted at a density of 14,000/ha in Mazis-Bas - vinified with 100% stems). The pronounced floral and sauvage elements add considerable breadth to the very fresh and overtly spicy nose of earth, cassis and wild red berry fruit aromas. There is plenty of punch and muscle to the intense, detailed and markedly mineral-inflected broad-shouldered flavors that deliver huge length on the explosive finish that remains beautifully balanced. This built-to-age beauty will require a very long slumber in a cool cellar and will not be a candidate for early consumption. Drink: 2028+. (Jan 2014)"
92-95 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "(almost 100% vendange entier ): Bright, deep ruby-red. Aromas of crunchy blackberry, cassis and licorice pastille are lifted by rose petal and pepper nuances. Thick on the palate, but very backward--even medicinal--following the Mazoyeres: this isn't giving up much today. Finishes with serious, penetrating, youthfully tough tannins and pepper and chocolate nuances. All in reserve today, and hard to taste. (Jan/Feb 2013)"
