98 points James Suckling: "Ripe strawberries and spices with pie crust and forest floor, as well as dried flowers, mushrooms and wet earth. Full-bodied yet agile, balanced and well formed with fine tannins. Savory and juicy. Persistent finish. Tannic and muscular at the end. Seven barrels made. Needs four or five years to come around. Try after 2029. (5/26/25)"
97 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Like the 2023 Griotte, the Musigny this year from Joseph Drouhin is also quite black fruity in personality out of the blocks. The wine delivers a superb and already very complex bouquet of black cherries, dark berries, gamebird, mustard seed, a nice touch of sweet stem tones, chalky minerality with a vein of iron running through them, woodsmoke and spicy oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and beautifully sappy at the core, with marvelous soil signature, ripe, seamless tannins, tangy acids and impeccable focus and balance on the long, complex and vibrant finish. Great juice, but this will be a long-distance runner. 2042-2100. (Jan/Feb 2025)"
97 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "A massive, complex, hedonistic and gloriously complex nose awaits in the glass. Roasted cherries, forest berries, incense, dried leaves and mocha create a divine aromatic profile accompanied by ample vinosity. The oak use is incredibly delicate, the tannins are sleek and the acidity is enlivening. This is a head-turning legend in the making. (2025)"
95-97 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Musigny Grand Cru comes from three plots, which make 0.67 hectares, which equates to six barrels (since part of the vineyard was removed). The bouquet is beautifully defined with mineral-rich red fruit, hints of forest floor and a background garrigue note. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, the weight and complexity expected from a Musigny and hints of black pepper and black tea toward the persistent finish. This is superb. Drink: 2030-2060. (Jan 2025)"
96 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "Drouhin’s Musigny is monumental wine. A bit less forward than some wines in this cellar, but on the palate it opens up with a solid, dense plum and mulberry fruit, with great mineral complexity and a bit of spice. The texture is concentrated and powerful, yet still harmonious and very elegant. The grapes are from two parcels in Grand Musigny that total 0.68ha that are partially destemmed and gently fermented to produce this iconic wine. Ideally, one would cellar this for 10 years and drink it for the next 30 after that. Drinking Window: 2030-2060. (11/13/24)"
94-96 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2023 Musigny Grand Cru is exquisite, exhibiting lovely aromas of cherries and plums mingled with rose petals, orange zest and exotic spices. Full-bodied, supple and layered, with an unctuous core of fruit, lively acids and sweet, melting tannins, it's seamless and complete. (Jan 2025)"
93-96 points/'Don't miss!' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .68 ha parcel). This elegantly perfumed wine possesses the most floral-suffused nose of the entire range along with a lovely range of spice elements. The suave, sleek and solidly concentrated larger-scaled flavors brim with minerality while displaying focused power on the tautly muscular, firm and strikingly persistent finale that is also impeccably well-balanced. This is a wine of sheer class; indeed the word Zen comes to mind. Drink: 2037+. (Apr 2025)"
