96 points James Suckling: "Beautiful nose of wild raspberries, cherries, sandalwood, cloves, orange fruit and cardamom. So harmonious on the palate, with very fine, seamless tannins and fresh acidity, all integrated. Medium-bodied, long and full of energy. Drink or hold. (8/8/23)"

94 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com) (2023).

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2021 Beaune Clos des Mouches Rouge 1er Cru is one of my picks from Drouhin this year. Wonderful, vivacious red fruit leap from the glass, hints of sous-bois and dried rose petal. The palate is beautifully balanced with fine mineralité, demonstrating more complexity than the preceding Beaune Cras with more grip on the finish. Superb. Drink: 2025-2045. (Jan 2023)"

93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2021 Clos des Mouches rouge is probably a hair better than the les Cras this year, but it is a more reserved and structured wine out of the blocks and is going to take a bit more time in the cellar before it starts to drink with the same generosity. The bouquet is beautifully refined, offering up scents of black cherries, plums, dark berries, a fine base of soil, pigeon, dark chocolate and a nice touch of oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core of black fruit, fine soil signature and grip, ripe tannins and a long, poised and impeccably balanced finish. 2032-2085. (Nov/Dec 2022)"

93 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "Drouhin makes both red and white wine from the Clos des Mouches; the red is particularly good value. The 2021 vintage has good colour and ripe black cherry aromas, liquorice, and earth. The texture is velvety and rich, with firm tannins and good length. The grapes come from 6.82 hectares of vines at the southern end of Beaune. The grapes are partly destemmed and fermented on native yeast before ageing in cask. The supple nature of the wine will make it approachable in a few years, and it should age for another twenty beyond that in a proper cellar. Drinking Window: 2025-2040. (Nov 2022)"

92 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "Drouhin noted that this had just been bottled a few days before I tasted it and not surprisingly, it was much more aromatically restrained with its nose of markedly floral and spicy red pinot fruit scents. The texture of the medium-bodied and less mineral-driven flavors is quite similar to that of the Les Cras though the supporting tannins are even finer on the beautifully balanced and sneaky long finale. This is a Clos des Mouches of generosity and finesse. Drink: 2031+. (Apr 2023)"

92 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "[$240 list] Rich, this is pierced with cherry, vanilla and toasty oak flavors and savory notes of sandalwood and green olive. Tightly grained, with firm tannins and a compact, mineral finish. Best from 2028 through 2045. 220 cases imported. (5/31/24)"
