94 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Pretty herbal top notes lift from the glass before the honeydew melon and white peach pop through. Scintillating acidity races straight down the palate. Benoît commented that this cuvée always takes on more oak, giving it these initial brioche, toast and pancake notes. The finish turns more savory and moves onto white pepper spice and crushed stones. This could use some time. (2024)"

93 points Andy Howard, MW (Decanter): "Although these a rich, deep soils, Droin says they retain a lot of seashell character. Lively and fresh on the palate, you can feel the cool terroir combined with warm, ripe fruit. Very classy and will age beautifully. Benoit Droin explains that it is the argile-bleu (blue clay) found here which adds extra volume. Drinking Window: 2025-2030. (10/18/23)"

93 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Born on a bedrock of marl, Montmains is endowed with a chiseled texture that brings out a note of oyster shell and a great freshness of fruit. (2025)"

91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2022 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru offers scents of grapefruit and orange rind on the nose, less flamboyant than the Vaillons, yet showing impressive delineation already. The palate is well-balanced, with a tangy opening and hints of marmalade infusing the citrus fruit with an almost steely finish. This will need time in bottle. Drink: 2026-2040. (Sep 2023)"

90-93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from Montmains proper; 40% 2 and 3-year-old oak). Prominent notes of mineral reduction and just picked white flowers suffuse the aromas of tidal pool, algae and zest. The rich but vibrant medium weight flavors possess even more obvious minerality that seems to become more obvious on the cool, firm and delineated finish that is clean, dry, citrusy and sneaky long. Lovely. Drink: 2028+. (Aug 2023)"

90-93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "35% wood – slightly lower figures this year, especially compared to 2021. The fruit appears at once, though without too much reduction. Broad shouldered but clean and mostly with white fruit. A long pleasing and fruit rich finish. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted: June 2023."
