95 points Andy Howard, MW (Decanter): "Droin's vines have an average age of 50 years with 1.75ha on Kimmeridgian marl with some blue-clay (Marne-bleu). As expected from Montée de Tonnerre, this has more power on the palate but also displays a remarkable balance between weight and elegance - 'complet' as Benoit Droin says. It would be a shame to drink this before 2-3 years and it will keep a very long time. Finishes with a vibrant hit spicy zesty fruit. Drinking Window: 2025-2031. (10/17/22)"

94 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Though coming from up on the slope in the Côte de Bréchain, there is a lot of clay here, making what Benoît calls "a comfortable wine" that is rounded and easy to appreciate. Green apple and white nectarine slide from the soft nose onto the rather gourmand, or gluttonous, palate. Yet the finish tightens up with a pleasantly tugging dryness that harnesses the long, fruit-filled finish. (2023)"

93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from Côte de Bréchain; 20 to 25% of new, 1-, 2- and 3-year-old wood). A background trace of wood frames the ripe white orchard fruit, wet stone and spice-infused aromas that display ample Chablis typicity. A highly sophisticated mouthfeel characterizes the solidly dense middleweight flavors where an almost pungent minerality adds a sense of lift to the attractively dry and sneaky long finale. This youthfully austere beauty is a combination of power and refinement that should also be capable of aging effortlessly. Drink: 2029+. (Aug 2023)"

92+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of peach, orange zest, lemon oil, white flowers and nutmeg introduce the 2021 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy wine that's impressively concentrated for the vintage, with racy acids and a bright, saline finish. Drink: 2024-2042. (Sep 2023)"
