97 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "This is notably less expressive but not necessarily mute with its restrained aromas of red currant, anise, close, hoisin, sandalwood and once again Asian-style tea, all of which is trimmed in nuances of rose petal and lavender. The remarkably intense and beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors possess a completely different texture before culminating in a stony, powerful, focused and explosively long finish that delivers sneaky good length because just as it appears to be dying away, it reappears. I wouldn't say that 2014 is going to be one of the all-time great vintages for this most storied of all red burgundies but it certainly should be capable of reaffirming its reputation as the most distinctive wine in Burgundy. Like the La Tâche however note well that plenty of patience is going to be required. Drink: 2034+. (Jan 2017)"

97 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "The 2014 Romanée-Conti Grand Cru was picked on 19 September, cropped at 32.6 hectoliters per hectare and bottled on 25 and 26 April 2016. I remember tasting this from barrel, thinking how taciturn it was, before coaxing out those subtle tertiary aromas. Here it remains bashful once more, however, it soon begins to open and deliver the ethereal, mineral-infused red fruit. It is almost conservative compared to the more multi-faceted 2014 La Tâche. This is precise and detailed, not inclined to deliver aromatic "thrills" at such an early juncture. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, perfectly judged acidity, perhaps fuller in the mouth than the 2013 Romanée-Conti, with volume and grip towards the finish. Paradoxically, it is also a discrete wine, quite linear and maybe without the sustained persistence that elevates the La Tâche. You could sum up this Romanée-Conti in three words: precision, precision, precision. A total of 657 cases were produced, which is much above the average of 450, but do not expect the normal economic rules of supply and demand to apply. Drink: 2020-2055. (Feb 2017)"

97 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "Deep, dark red. Darker on the nose than La Tâche, exuding aromas of boysenberry, black raspberry, violet, brown spices and smoky minerality. Like liquid velvet on the palate but with its purple and black fruit flavors energized by pungent, sappy minerality. The rising, utterly bracing finish shows great breadth and extraordinary noble tannins. This knockout is wonderfully full and thick yet somehow weightless owing to its outstanding mineral energy. An amazing showing today, but this supremely elegant wine is just at the beginning of a 30+-year life in bottle. Bertrand de Villaine noted that Romanée-Conti is typically a wine of aromas while La Tâche is more about the mouth, but not today. Drink: 2030-2048. (Mar 2017)"

96-97 points Michael Schuster (The World of Fine Wine): "Mid-purple; ethereally fragrant to smell, a different order of richness in the way the nose fills the glass; a beautiful, fresh, moderately concentrated (in fruit per se) mid-weight balance, gently firm and particularly refined in its tannin; a lovely, mouth-filling, freshly sweet, markedly spicy flavor. Here is a pronounced gentle energy, a great tenacity of taste, a great temptation to linger as you savor--the archetypal 'great' red Burgundy combination of sweetness, delicacy, transparency, understated power, and peacock's-tail radiance of aftertaste Wonderful wine. 2028-45+. (Issue 57; 2017)"

96 points Decanter: "Delicious savoury notes as well as some red fruit and candied citrus peel. An extremely polished texture and a spicy finish. A wine of great class and harmony that is often overlooked because this legendary estate has so many stars in its stable."

19/20 points Jancis Robinson, MW: "Usually a bit paler than Tâche but not today. Very dense and majestic and concentrated. So much more than most red burgundies on the nose! An array of medicinal aromas. With rich fruit underneath. Very opulent nose. And on the palate great density and complexity. Much more than simple sweet fruit: something minerally and as though bones were dissolved in it! Majestic as usual with quite marked acidity but there is just so much packed in here! Drinking Window: 2040-2065. (11/9/16)"
