94 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "This has a sulking nose with underbrush dialed in on the nose over the cherry and plum core youthfulness. The palate, however, reverses course and shows dense boysenberry and blueberry. Sieve said that it was a tougher vintage for whole cluster in Volnay, so he only used 50% here. (2023)"
91-94 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1.51 ha holding of <80-year-old vines; 50% whole clusters). Here too the reduction is enough to mask everything but a subtle floral nuance. The gorgeously refined and pungently mineral-driven middleweight flavors culminate in a chalky, long, balanced and classically austere finale. Textbook Taillepieds. Drink: 2033+. (Apr 2023)"
91-93 points Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy): "50% whole cluster. Medium depth of crimson colour. Lifted fresh red berry with a certain acidity. The Taillepieds is evenly balanced on the palate with a wealth of attractive dark red fruit sitting alongside the whole cluster freshness. Drink from 2027-2032. (Oct 2022)"
92 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "The Taillepieds from de Montille has long been one of the iconic wines of the domaine and in 2021 it did not disappoint. The wine boasts ripe blackberry fruit with violet, earth, and liquorice notes. The texture is firmly tannic, yet there is a supple quality as well, and enough density to assure lingering finish. The grapes come from two parcels totaling 1.5 hectares. Most of the grapes from the old vines are left as whole bunches prior to the fermentation and ageing in cask with a modest proportion of new oak. Drinking Window: 2025-2045. (Nov 2022)"
