98 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Finally, Corton Clos du Roi rises to the top with its floral aromatics, ripe fruit, and pulpy, refined texture, solidly structured on the finish. (2026)"

94-96 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru is often one of the strongest wines from de Montille, and this is no different. The 60% whole cluster is beautifully integrated into a bouquet of finely poised dark berry fruit with a noticeable marine influence and superb delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, building white pepper and a hint of clove toward the persistent finish. As good as the 2022? Maybe better? Drink: 2027-2045. (Jan 2025)"

93-96 points Fine Wine Review: "Fresh, red and black raspberry, dense, intense, powerful. One of the best Corton-Clos du Roi I can remember here. About 2/3 whole cluster. (3/3/25)"

92-95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Two thirds whole bunch vinification. A vibrant mid purple. This is sensual on a large scale yet with well-defined structure, partly from the stems and partly where it comes from. A long suave and fine finish. (Oct 2024)"

94 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Impressively deep in color for a Corton (reminding me of the DRC Corton's color), this pulls back in aromatics and flavors. It is quite a contrast to the expressiveness of the other Côte de Beaune wines. Peppercorns, red cherries, forest floor and a hint of umami appear on the palate. The tannins are grainy and a bit grudging. Along with the pulsing acidic tension, there is no shortage of structure. There is reassuring length on the finish, but this needs time to sort itself out. Give it at least four to five years. (2025)"

92-94 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from .84 ha holding of <75+ year old vines). A riper nose of exceptionally spicy aromas of plum, dark wild currant, the sauvage and an abundance of earth influence gives way to suave, round and solidly concentrated larger-bodied flavors that possess evident power on the moderately austere, compact and built-to-age finale. In the same vein as the Aux Saints Juliens, this excellent effort is much more classic Corton in style than it usually is. Drink: 2035+. (Apr 2025)"
