94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Dauvissat family’s 2023 Montée de Tonnerre is another brilliant wine in the making. The wine is very elegant on both the nose and palate this year, with the wine’s aromatic constellation comprised of pear, lemon, beeswax, a complex base of chalky minerality, apple blossoms and just a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and seamless in personality, with a fine core of fruit, excellent soil signature, a snappy spine of acidity and a long, complex and very well balanced finish. Great juice in the making. 2028-2065. (Jan/Feb 2025)"

94 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Sourced from the upper portion of Côte de Bréchain, this broods with intensity. The palate has muscle and grip. Compact citrus unites with blanched almonds. Bristling, youthful acidity draws out the finish with a flourish of sea salt and quinine. (2025)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has much more brightness and mineralité compared to the preceding Vaillons. This has the bit between its teeth. The palate is very pure and refined. A seductive Montée de Tonnerre with a slightly honeyed, stem ginger tinged finish lingering on the aftertaste. Very fine. Drink: 2027-2045. (Aug 2024)"

91-93 points Kristaps Karklins (Wine Advocate): "The most open-knit of Vincent Dauvissat’s premiers crus this year, the 2023 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre exhibits a slightly muskier and more powerful profile than Séchet and La Forest, bursting from the glass with scents of pear, orange zest and honeysuckle mingling with notes of beeswax. Like the Vaillons, this is quite richly structured and expressive. Medium to full-bodied, with an ample mid-palate and textural, it concludes with a long, chalky finish. (3/6/25)"

91-93 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .30 ha parcel in Côte de Bréchain). A markedly more floral-suffused nose reflects equally airy aromas of oyster shell, tidal pool and quinine along with citrus and green apple wisps. The succulent, round and intense medium-bodied flavors also exude evident minerality on the lingering, balanced and youthfully austere finale. As is usually the case, this is more refined than the Vaillons but not necessarily more complex. Either way, this too is lovely and should repay up to a decade of cellaring. Drink: 2031+. (Oct 2024)"

90-93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Pale lemon colour. The nose is tight and unforthcoming. Not the extra weight of a right bank here, now it comes out with the plummy note. Unexpected intensity at the finish, a touch of liquorice as well as the stones, and fine length. Shows some warmth perhaps. Need to pick later here in Bréchain. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted Jun 2024."
