93-95 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds is unusually refined this year, even if it's still very much a vin de garde, unwinding in the glass with notes of cassis, cherries, dark chocolate, warm spices and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and elegantly muscular, it's deep and layered, with bright acids and beautifully refined tannins. (Jan 2021)"

93-95 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Volnay Les Taillepieds 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with disarmingly pure red cherry, cranberry and rose petal and incense scents. This is one of the domaine’s most alluring aromatics this vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very well balanced with a sensual, deep finish that caresses the mouth. This is a wonderful Volnay that will give 20-30 years of drinking pleasure. This may well end up at the top of my banded score. Drink: 2024-2050. (Dec 2020)"

93-95 points/'Don't miss!/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(froma 1.07 ha parcel of 35+ year old vines). A ripe, pure, and airy and elegant nose combines notes of plum, black raspberry and spice with soft earth and floral nuances. The mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is almost gossamer fine yet there is no lack of punch to the strikingly long and again, beautifully balanced finale. This isn't as dense as the Champans or the Clos des Ducs though it does possess that ineffable quality of breed. This is pretty much textbook Taillepieds.. Drink: 2031+. (Apr 2021)"

92-95 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Slightly deeper purple in colour, offering a dark raspberry fruit with great intensity. Sublimely sensual, but with a strictness of countenance as well, just the right acid and tannin balance, the 2019 marquis d’Angerville Volnay Taillepieds comes to us with a sense of authority. Long flowing finish. Very good. (Oct 2020)"

94 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "D’Angerville has 1.7ha of Taillepieds located above the vines belonging to Etienne de Montille at the top of the premier cru section. The vineyard here is very stony and the thin soils and fairly high elevation on the windy side of the slope, high on the hill, give the wine a bright, high-toned red fruit character, plenty of lively freshness and an elegant, airy texture on the palate. Drinking Window: 2024-2034. (Oct 2020)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(A lot has been replanted). Higher toned, but a nose that I feel to be less ready than the others. In the mouth, there’s no question-mark; gorgeous texture, flavour that’s mouth-wateringly delicious – almost juicy. A little tannin in the finishing flavour. Serious but approachable – this will benefit from whatever cellar-time you can give it, but with the potential to be great wine! (Dec 2020)"
