92-94 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from two parcels measuring .65 ha). A wonderfully floral-infused nose, and particularly dried rose petal, flashes a pretty array of spice and freshly crushed red berries. The caressing, sappy and mouthcoating medium-bodied flavors possess another level of refinement that carries over to the balanced, classy, and intensely mineral-driven finale. This is terrific and a wine that should amply reward extended cellaring. Drink: 2031+. (Apr 2021)"
90-94 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Clear pure mid purple. Considerable fresh fruit finesse on the nose, a greater classicism returns. The wine was more difficult to read on the palate, though I believe that the purity of the fruit will win through. (Oct 2020)"
93 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "Produced from a 0.45ha holding in Caillerets, this is prime Volnay premier cru territory and essentially a southern continuation of Champans. It seems to me a fairly robust wine, with more black fruit than red, and a substantial velvety texture that is bigger than the wines from further up the slope, without ever losing the elegance so typical of Volnay. Drinking Window: 2024-2039. (Oct 2020)"
91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru has an intriguing nose, more savory, almost meatier than the preceeding Fremiet, yet still well defined with ferrous notes surfacing with time. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins. This is very lithe in the mouth, velvety smooth with a rounded, generous finish. Maybe other vintages show a little more nerve, although it does have exceedingly good length. Drink: 2023-2040. (Dec 2020)"
