91-93 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a roughly 1/3 blend of Pitures and 2/3 L'Ormeau). Ripe yet fresh aromas of poach plum, black cherry, violet and a hint of cassis complement the delicious, vibrant and caressing medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle minerality that helps to add a sense of lift to the noticeably firmer and impressively long finale. This is excellent with the aging potential to match. Drink: 2032+. (Apr 2024)"
90-93 points Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy): "Produced from Mitans and Pitures – the 1er Cru blend can contain other young vines but not this year. Fresh mid purple, without much nose at first. A bit sulky today. However, the intensity of 1er Cru is present, and the quality of the fruit on the palate is properly distinguished. Just a little firmer at the finish, but these are early days. Drink from 2029-2035. Tasted Oct 2023."
91-92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of sweet cherries, rose petals, orange zest, raw cocoa and spices introduce the 2022 Volnay 1er Cru, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and charming wine that's suave and perfumed. It's a blend of Pitures and Mitans. (Jan 2024)"
90 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2022 Volnay 1er Cru retains the purity on the nose that I observed from barrel, and indeed, there remains a tangible upgrade in complexity over the Village Cru. The palate is medium-bodied and is still quite Pommard-like in quality with that Earl Grey element. It's a bit short on the finish, hence my prudent score. This is for earlier drinking than other recent vintages. Drink 2025-2034 (Jan 2024)"
