96 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "The highly perfumed nose has finally begun to turn toward the secondary while flashing plenty of spice, earth and plum nuances. There is excellent richness and plenty of supporting structure and minerality to the full-bodied flavors yet the usual precision and focus are present in spades on the mouth coating, serious and still moderately austere finish that delivers explosive length. This is going to be an extremely long-lived wine and while I suspect that it should be more approachable with another 2 to 5 years of bottle age, I doubt that it will be fully ready until around 2029 or so. Irrespective of how long it ultimately requires, the 1999 Ducster is going to be one very special wine when it finally gets there. Drink: Try from 2026+. (Nov 2022)"
95 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Like the ’99 Taillepieds, the Clos des Ducs is incredibly pure and complex, while remaining light on its feet. The nose is very pure, offering up notes of cherry, plum, woodsmoke, great soil tones, coffee and violets in the upper register. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and combines a great vinosity with pristine youthfulness. The finish shows a fair bit of well-integrated tannins, bright, tangy acids, and excellent length and grip. The felicitous combination of depth of fruit, elegance and structural purity will make this a brilliant wine for a very long time to come. As good a young vintage of Clos des Ducs as I have ever tasted. 2007-2035. (Feb 2003)"
95 points Falstaff Guide: "The charm and elegance of a mature Burgundy: complex yet fresh fruit, silky tannins, fine acidity, and a mineral-infused structure. Irresistible delicacy. (Nov 2020)"
