95 points Georgina Hindle (Decanter): "Gorgeous nose full of blackcurrant and dark fruits - fresh and expressive. The palate full of lively, high-definition fruit -a complete fruit explosion that feels dynamic with energy and life. I love the fruit forwardness and immediate appeal but there is also some support from fine tannins and the softest touch of sweetness and chew to the fruit that gives a great mouthfeel - textured and structured. Feels like excellent winemaking on show. Confident and shining. A top buy. Drinking Window: 2027-2046. (1/5/22)"

94 points Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux): "(95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon). An exceptionally successful Couhins-Lurton, with Jacques Lurton at the helm for the first time with this vintage. He is slowly but surely sculpting and building on what was already the standout wine in the Lurton range, as is evident from the success in the bottle here (Jacques arrived at the end of the growing season). Give it a little time in the glass to show the flesh and creaminess that sits within the fine tannic structure, as the raspberry fruits soften and widen. Pulses of electricity, great balance and succulence. 50% new oak. Harvest September 19 to October 11. Tasted twice. Alcohol 14.5%. Drink: 2027-2042. (1/11/22)"

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "As to the red, the 2019 Château Couhins-Lurton gives up a deeper ruby/plum color as well as attractive red and black currant fruits supported by cedary spice, tobacco leaf, and dried earth. Impressive on the palate, with a medium to full-bodied, rounded, expansive mouthfeel and terrific tannins, this is another remarkable wine from this estate that's well worth seeking out. (4/11/22)"

94 points James Suckling: "This is a gorgeous red with plenty of blackcurrants and red berries, as well as crushed-stone and chalk character. It’s full and reserved with firm and round tannins that give tension and energy to the wine. One of the best young wines I have had from here. Try after 2025. (1/3/22)"

93 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "The grand vin from Jacques Lurton and his team has seen an élevage lasting twelve months, and it opens with an array of dark berry fruits on the nose, reminiscent of black olive and blackcurrant, with a little touch of barrel spice and vanilla. This translates onto a rather elegantly styled palate, with a juicy presence of fruit but this comes set in a finely polished and rather silky blanket of texture. Ripe tannins, finely knit together, and a bold finish. The declared alcohol is 15%, although there is no detectable impact from this. (Dec 2021)"

93 points Peter Moser (Falstaff): "Dark ruby, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Fine dried fruit nuances, a hint of figs, candied orange zest, some nougat in the background. Juicy black cherries, blackberries, ripe, integrated tannins, mineral, chocolaty aftertaste, good freshness, has length and ageing potential, delicate style. (3/2/22)"
