94 points James Suckling: "This shows wonderful depth and richness, yet it’s so fresh and vivid with dark berries, dark plums and spice. Full-bodied, balanced and creamy with beautiful flavors and structure. So many spices in this. Only 12% alcohol. Second wine of Château Cos-d’Estournel. Better after 2022. (12/19/19)"

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine has velvet tannins and lusciously ripe black fruits. Despite the tannins, the it is more about fruit and ripeness than about structure. Drink 2022. Alcohol 13.5%. (Mar 2020)"

92 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Advocate): "A blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, this second wine accounts for about 55% of production. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Les Pagodes de Cos sashays out of the glass with youthful, presumptuous notes of Black Forest cake, raspberry preserves, cassis and spice cake with nuances of lavender, chocolate box, anise and underbrush. Medium-bodied, the palate has wonderful elegance and precision, with a very finely grained frame and seamless freshness supporting the soft-spoken red and black fruits, finishing with a quiet intensity. Drink: 2020-2036. (3/16/20)"

92 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2017 Les Pagodes de Cos is dark, supple and wonderfully inviting. Dark plum, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and earthy tones give the Pagodes a decidedly somber, dark feel. Plush fruit and ripe, silky tannins add to the wine's sensual, inviting personality. (Drink between 2020-2030. (Mar 2020)"

92 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "The second wine of Cos d’Estournel is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon blended with 42% Merlot, and like the grand vin 1% each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, taking about 50% of the crop. It was bottled in May 2019, after an élevage in oak, using 30% new barrels, the remainder second-fill and third-fill in equal proportions. The nose is all darkly spiced fruits, lightly grilled, certainly correct, crushed cherries with a little rose-petal perfume. The palate is supple, fresh and pure, with more of those softly grilled cherry fruits here intertwined with a lightly mineral thread, gripped with tightly knit and elegant tannins. Good structure here, but overall it has the open and medium-bodied style of the vintage. I suspect this will give very attractive drinking in five or so years time. (Dec 2019)"

92 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (The Wine Independent): "The 2017 Pagodes de Cos is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It rocks up with open-knit scents of crushed black plums, boysenberries, and kirsch, plus suggestions of fragrant soil, cinnamon toast, and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, the palate is juicy and plush, delivering compelling tension and a savory finish. Alcohol 13%. Drink: 2023-2034.(12/29/22)"

92 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Les Pagodes 2017 is also well established, with plenty of charm and brilliance on the palate and finish. (2021)"
