93-96 points/'Don't miss!' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .16 ha holding in CSD proper). Very ripe yet fresh aromas are comprised by notes of cassis black cherry liqueur and a lovely range of spice elements. There is excellent richness to the opulent and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess a caressing mouthfeel thanks to the abundance of dry extract that buffers the very firm but well-integrated tannins on the hugely long finish. This is finer than the Clos de la Roche but not as complex though that of course is likely to change with time in bottle. Drink: 2035+. (Jan 2022)"
92-95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Two new barrels in three, a small cuvée. The usual dark colour. A bouquet of walnuts and cherry kernels. Dark raspberry beneath, really lush on the palate, super succulent, more black fruit than red, and though there are charming elements to this, I am uncertain what degree of nobility will eventually be achieved. 14% alcohol. (Nov 2021)"
92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru is quite decadent on the nose and judging them side-by-side, I feel that the Clos de la Roche displays a little more delineation and poise. The palate is medium-bodied with a velvety smooth entry, fine acidity, sorbet-fresh black cherry and blueberry fruit laced with a light pinch of white pepper on the finish. Maybe just a little heat on the finish here. Give this 3-5 years in bottle at least. Drink: 2026-2048. (Dec 2021)"
