92 points Wojciech Bonkowski, MW (TimAtkin.com): "(14%). When Roberto Conterno purchased the Arione vineyard from Gigi Rosso in 2015, 3.5 ha of it lay outside the border of DOCG Barolo, and so the wine must be labelled with the less prestigious DOC Nebbiolo d’Alba. While aged for less time in wood, it benefits from the same obsessive approach to viticulture and grape quality as its more prestigious brothers, and it does cost more than most producers’ Barolo (150 EUR, though that’s half the price of this winery’s Barolos). Pale-coloured and very classically proportioned with airy notes of bitter cherry and violets, this also shows the high ripeness of 2022 in a note of tar. The almost tactile sensation of ripe fleshy cherry on the palate is textbook Giacomo Conterno, and the tannic structure is equal if not superior to many a Barolo. Needs several years to mellow, and will age beautifully. (Oct 2025)"
