97 points Aldo Fiordelli (Decanter): "Tenuta Favot, Aldo Conterno's winery, is one of the most splendid estates in the Langhe. The Colonnello vineyard is a 45- to 50-year-old Nebbiolo in Bussia Soprana. The wine is fermented in stainless steel then aged for 28 months in 25hl Slavonian oak vessels which are replaced every five years. This 2019 has a prominent fennel and dill aroma, restrained strawberry and cherry fruit, dried flowers, and vibrant blood orange and graphite depth. Firm and crisp, it develops on the palate with super-refined, elegant and sweet tannins, and an oaky finish at the moment. Like all great wines, it could be drunk now but with more bottle ageing it will develop even more of this bracing complexity. Drinking Window: 2023-2050. (Jan 2023)"

97 points James Suckling: "Freshly cut flowers with strawberry, peach and orange peel aromas that follow through to a full body with layers of velvety tannins, that have a fine texture and give a refined yet voluptuous mouthfeel. It shows class and harmony for this tannic vintage. Drink after 2027. (7/28/23)"

96 points Falstaff Guide: "Bright, medium-dense ruby garnet. Open and finely marked nose, smells of raspberries, fresh plums, some blood orange and saffron. Surprisingly vivid, dense tannin on the palate, builds in many layers, creates rich drive on the back end, still very young on the palate in contrast to the nose. (10/6/23)"

95+ points Ian D'Agata (Terroir Sense): "Luminous medium red. Nuanced nose of orange peel, blood orange and apricot with notes of violet, rose petals and sour red cherry contributing further complexity. Then similar flavours in the mouth, lifted by harmonious acidity that nicely brings everything into focus on the long back end. Thick, dense and downright voluminous already on the nose, then just as much if not even more so on the palate, this is one of the denser, more powerful young Colonnellos I have memory of. I love the Barolos from the Colonnello vineyard, though usually the very sandy soil there gives somewhat more gently-styled Barolos than this 2019 (clearly, “gently-styled” is a very relative comment because it’s still a Barolo from Monforte that we are talking about). Drinking window: 2028-2043. (12/8/23)"
