96 points Charles Curtis MW (Decanter,/i>): "This appealing, approachable premier cru boasts a ripe apple fruit with notes of marzipan, butter and smoke. The texture is creamy and dense, and the finish is voluptuously long. Lafon says the acidity was slightly lower than in 2020, yet the wine does not seem heavy. It is produced from 1.7 hectares of vines, mainly in Charmes Dessus, including some vines planted a century ago. The grapes are pressed as whole clusters and fermented mainly in used casks before ageing over two winters. Drinking Window: 2025-2045. (May 2023)"

96 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "This is extravagantly floral with pretty peach undertones. Cantaloupe and ample extract sit in the mid-palate amongst swathes of spice rack generosity. Good and boisterous acidity keeps the palate feel going. The balance is seamlessly harmonious here thanks to the forward, crunchy lift. (2024)"

94-96 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2022 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru has an effervescent nose with yuzu and quince complementing the mineral-rich citrus fruit. The nose emits so much. The beautifully balanced palate has wonderful poise, yet there is real depth and power as it sashays toward its delineated and persistent finish. One of the best from the Domaine. Outstanding. Drink: 2026-2050. (Jan 2024)"

95 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes showed very well from barrel, and it's just as good in bottle. Wafting from the glass with notes of pear, waxy citrus rind, white flowers, freshly baked bread and honeycomb, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, with an elegantly muscular profile and a long, precise finish. Drink: 2027-2045. (Jan 2025)"

93-95 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(a blend of fruit coming from 35+ and 75+ year old vines in Charmes Dessus, which is generally considered to be the best part; the parcel is situated directly below Perrières and abutting Combettes). A distinctly restrained nose only grudgingly reveals its combination of cool, pure and airy aromas of white orchard fruit, toasted nut/brown butter, crushed anise and a similar array of floral top notes. The bigger and richer, if less refined, medium-bodied flavors exude a more subtle minerality on the superbly long and even more complex finale that is also just a bit more tightly wound. This is terrific and I especially like the interplay of the fruit/acid/stone elements. A classic Lafon Charmes. Drink: 2034+. (Jun 2024)"

93-95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Clear pale lemon. This is at the moment less expressive than the Genevrières, Classical Charmes in the mouth with the energy that this vineyard has had chez Lafon since turning biodynamic. Perhaps a little less weight at the very back so Genevrières does just get the nod. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Oct 2023."
