95 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "This inspiring wine combines notes of citrus, ripe pear and green apples with hints of mineral, smoke and spice. The texture is lively and fresh but not without velvety charm – crisp acidity balanced by moderate body and extract leading to a lingering finish. Only one barrel was produced due to frost damage; it is still maturing in cask and will not be racked for bottling before the end of the second winter. Drinking Window: 2025-2040. (Nov 2022)"

95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "This comes from a single, 80-year-old parcel that gives very small berries. Its strikingly floral notes are nicely countered by smoky, struck flint tones. Pierre-Yves points out that it is a cooler expression of Puligny than Folatières and Champ Canet. This plus the fact that one barrel didn't complete its malo means that this has extra verve, and that suits the high-toned yellow fruits very well. (2023)"

91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet La Garenne 1er Cru has a succinct nose with Braeburn apple, Cornice pear and subtle petrichor scents that discretely unfold in the glass, but never get too carried away. The palate is well balanced with some new oak to be subsumed on the entry, fine depth, a little richer than other crus with orange zest perking up the finish. This has a very late malo and it requires the second winter in barrel to bind it together, but the potential is here. Drink: 2025-2045. (Jan 2023)"

90-93 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A much more floral-suffused nose speaks primarily of green fruit and just squeezed citrus. The delicious, racy and beautifully detailed middleweight flavors exude an abundance of minerality on the lemony, very dry and lengthier finish. This solidly concentrated effort needs to develop better depth but the potential is here. Drink: 2029+. (Jun 2023)"

90-93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "A tiny cuvée of one barrel, made apart because there was nowhere to declassify it, except Bourgogne! Mid yellow colour, some generosity to the nose. A lime touch in the bouquet as well. Plenty of energy in its linear, hillside style. Juicy and quite long. Drink from 2025-2030. (Oct 2022)"
