96 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "[$125 list] These vineyards in Novello open to the Alps and an exceptional panorama. The Elvio Cogno 2021 Barolo Ravera is made with the Lampia and Michet clones of Nebbiolo. The wine offers a distinct character with iron ore and crushed stone behind dark fruit and pressed rose. I also get a hint of exotic spice in this gorgeous wine. This is a 14,000-bottle release. Drink: 2026-2045. (Jan 2025)"
96 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "The 2021 Barolo Ravera is highly expressive and a standout in the range, revealing layers of depth in its underlying notes of balsamic herbs, and its fruit shines brightly with preserved strawberries, wild spices, and crushed flowers. Sourced from 80-year-old vines just below the winery, the palate is saturated with ripe tannins, sanguine mineral richness, a broad-shouldered mid-palate, and a long finish. It’s built to last over the coming two to three decades. (5/1/25)"
96 points Michaela Morris (Decanter): "Crafted from 60- to 80-year-old vines, the Ravera bottling amps up the refinement and depth. Still youthfully alluring, floral scents of violet and rose give way to succulent black raspberry on the beautifully contoured palate. There are inner-mouth perfumes of juniper and lavender along with a mineral accent of crushed stone. Finely ground, powdery tannins are tightly laced, providing authoritative structure. To preserve freshness and fruit character, Valter Fissore avoids racking throughout the entire 24 months of ageing in Slavonian oak cask, and indeed purity and focus are tangible signatures of this Barolo. Drinking Window: 2028-2041. (Jan 2025)"
95+ points Ian D'Agata Wine Review: "Good full red. Sandalwood, pomegranate, strawberry and candied violet on the enticing nose. Enters silky and perfumed, with concentrated flavours of red and black and cherry, blood orange, sandalwood, forest floor and aromatic herbs. Finishes long and savoury boasting impeccable balance and precision. Less exotic and fuller-bodied than the 2021 Cascina Nuova, this is another beautiful Barolo from Cogno. Drinking window: 2029-2039. (Nov 2024)"
95 points James Suckling: "Aromas of orange rind with touches of red fruit and tar. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, very well constructed, with a fine line of acidity, a good core of delineated fruit and polished yet firm tannins. Lovely to taste now, but will be better from 2026. (1/10/25)"
