French Wine Buyer's notes: "Luminous ruby red (not black or purple!), the wonderfully kaleidoscopic aromas suggest a basket of red fruits, dusty rose, and licorice. The initial impression is that of a slightly idiosyncratic Etna Rosso, an impression that's to some extent reinforced on the palate thanks to the tart wild berry flavors intermixed with exotic spices. Where it diverges from its Sicilian counterpart is in palate feel: the Clos Venturi, though similarly energetic, is more textural with an almost glycerol-like quality and a roundness seldom found in Nerello Mascalese."
