97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Based on a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and the rest Cinsault and Vaccarèse, the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape La Combe des Fous delivers incredible elegance, with black raspberries, spring flowers, pepper, Provençal spices, and meaty nuances all shining here. Medium to full-bodied, it has a gorgeously layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, plenty of tannins that are ripe and perfectly integrated, and a great finish. Give it just 2-4 years and drink over the following 15 years. This beauty is all about finesse and elegance paired with remarkable power and density. Drink: 2027-2042. (11/11/25)"

95 points Wine Spectator: "[$150 list] The voluptuous, plush profile is nicely supported by well-sculpted tannins, giving this ripe red a solid backbone and good balance. Cherry and licorice cruise alongside warm spices, grilled anise and iron shavings along the lengthy, decadent finish. Delicious. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Vaccarèse. Drink now through 2042. 54 cases imported. (12/3/25)"

94 points Nicolas Greinacher (Vinous): "This year’s tasting at Clos Saint-Jean was hosted by three Maurels: Vincent, son Hugo and nephew Valentin, while Pascal (Valentin’s father) was occupied in the vineyard. Before moving through the full range, the family introduced me to a new Châteauneuf-du-Pape called Sine Fine, a blend of two-thirds Grenache from sandy soils and one-third Cinsault from clay soils, all raised in concrete. The inaugural 2023 shows an approachable style, less extracted and concentrated than is typical for Clos Saint-Jean, and demonstrates just how well Cinsault and Grenache can complement each other. The other reds from 2023 are solid efforts, though I slightly prefer the more complex and intense 2022s, which should still be widely available. Looking ahead to 2024, Deus Ex Machina is currently the standout thanks in part to its 40% Mourvèdre, a variety that performed particularly well in the vintage. Yields were very low in 2024, with Vincent Maurel reporting roughly 20 hl/ha. As for the Sanctus Sanctorum, readers wondering whether it will be bottled in 2024 should note that about 600 liters have been produced and are aging in a single demi-muid. . However, the Maurels have not yet decided whether to release it as a standalone wine or blend it with others. The 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes wasn’t available for tasting on this occasion, and I will endeavor to add a review during my next visit. Drink: 2028-2038. (Oct 2025)"
