97 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2022 Clos de Sarpe is fabulous. Brisk, aromatic and vibrant, the 2022 captures the intensity this site is known for. Dark red/purplish fruit, blood orange, spice, new leather and dried herbs make a strong first impression. Bright saline notes liven up the finish. This is quite simply one of the best editions of Clos de Sarpe I have tasted. Drink: 2028-2052. (Jan 2025)"
97 points Peter Moser (Falstaff): "Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate rim brightening. Seductive bouquet of liquorice and purples, black fruit, fine noble wood nuances. Juicy, blackberries, elegant, very fresh and finesse, shows enormous energy, red berry finish, great length, certain ageing potential for many years to come. (Jan 2025)"
94-96 points Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider): "Deeply colored, the wine is perfumed with flowers, crushed stones, peppery spices, black plums, black cherries and espresso. The wine is concentrated, powerful, and packed with dark red and black pit fruits, chocolate, and salty, crushed stone characteristics. Give it time to come together. It is worth the wait. Drink from 2027-2055. (May 2023)"
93-95 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Clos de Sarpe wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, cherries, licorice and petals. Full-bodied, broad and layered, it's no blushing violet at 15% alcohol; yet this limestone terroir has delivered a remarkably low pH and concomitant freshness, and judicious extraction during a long but low-temperature maceration means that it remains suave and seamless. (4/28/23)"
93-95 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2022 Clos de Sarpe has been moving in a positive direction for several years. This latest iteration has a rich and opulent bouquet with blueberry, crushed strawberry, incense and wild mint aromas. The palate is medium-bodied and continues the revised style of Clos de Sarpe - more terroir-driven, more mineral and fresher. I particularly like the delineation and complexity on the finish. Excellent. Drink: 2028-2048. (May 2023)"
93-95 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (The Wine Independent): "Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2022 Clos de Sarpe offers up fragrant scents of dried plums, boysenberries preserves and raisin cake, giving way to wafts of sandalwood, cumin seed, and fallen leaves. The full-bodied palate delivers mouth-coating black and blue fruit preserves offset by wonderful tension, supported by velvety tannins, finishing with great length. The blend this year is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol 15%. Drink: 2027-2045. (5/7/23)"
94 points Zekun Shuai (JamesSuckling.com): "Plenty of plush wood spices that aren’t yet fully integrated into the rich blackberries and tapenade. Full-bodied and fine-grained on the palate, with sappy fruit and tannins. Flavorful, long and a bit woody now, but it shows potential. Try from 2029. (1/20/25)"
