94 points Falstaff Guide: "Bright, light ruby with garnet-red nuances. Spicy and with compact fruit on the nose, notes of wild berries, clove and lemongrass, a hint of graphite. Velvety and soft on the palate, then with beautiful tension, precise fruit and fine freshness, very long. (Oct 2024)"
93 points Kerin O'Keefe: "Balsamic aromas of camphor mingle with cedar, blue flower and dark exotic spice on the 2020 Barolo Comune di Monforte from Domenico Clerico. Full-bodied and smooth, the savory palate is generous yet elegantly restrained, featuring ripe Morello cherry, raspberry compote, star anise and cake spice. Velvety tannins provide polished, enveloping support. Drink 2026–2032. (Feb 2024)"
93 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "Spiced cranberry and blood orange peel off the top of the Domenico Clerico 2020 Barolo del Comune di Monforte d'Alba. This vintage is open and front-loaded overall; however, it does touch on all the main elements atop the Nebbiolo playlist. The wine is lean with young tannins. All said and done, the oak is graciously underplayed, and all the wine needs is another year or two in bottle to allow the fruit to flesh out. It ages in large oak casks with about 10% in barrique. The blend is fruit from the coolest areas of Pajana (in Ginestra), Ciabot Mentin (also in Ginestra) and Percristina (in Mosconi). Drink 2025-2038 (Apr 2024)"
93 points James Suckling: "This Barolo shows plums, cranberries, fresh roses, violets, pomegranate and blood oranges. This interpretation exhibits a juicy acidity and chewy ripe tannins with a slightly toasty finish and the dustiness of Nebbiolo, but with a savory finish focused on licorice. The tannins will soften and develop more complexity in two to three years. (May 2024)"
92+ points Ian d'Agata Wine Review: "Bright medium red. Watermelon and violet rule on the nose and palate, with hints of herbal camphor for added interest. Closes long and tannic but acceptably so, and with a surging whiplash of fresh tar. Drinking window: 2027-2036. (Nov 2024)"
92 points Wine Spectator: "A mix of ripe cherry, strawberry, sweet spice and tobacco flavors mark this supple, accessible red, whose refined tannins leave a light powdery feel on the finish. Best from 2027 through 2042. (Dec 2024)"
