Fully mature on the nose, it offers enticing melted red berry fruit aromas, leather and incense, light tertiary scents in the background. The palate is beautifully balanced with fine tannins, a dash of white pepper on the entry and then quite conspicuous eucalyptus notes towards rather a sustained finish. This is showing wonderfully, though I’d prefer to open bottles now instead of later. Drink: 2022-2032. (Mar 2022)"

On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, closed and still quite monolithic, with a rock solid core, a fair bit of tannin and very good length and grip on the chewy, grumpy and soil-driven finish. This is old school Clape in need of several more years of bottle age prior to blossoming and starting to really drink well. But, it should be a very good wine in the fullness of time. 2018-2040.
