95 points Josh Raynolds (Vinous): "The almost mature 1995 Clape Cornas offers up a highly complex bouquet that evokes ripe red/dark fruits, exotic spices and potpourri, with olive and smoked meat notes in the background. Appealingly sweet and well-concentrated, it shows powerful cassis, cherry preserve and fruitcake flavors that are enlivened by an undercurrent of juicy acidity. While there are still some fine-grained tannins present, they are not easy to detect, making this an awfully appealing wine right now. Drink: 2022-2035. (Dec 2020)"

93 points Matt Walls (Decanter): "A small harvest due to coulure. Somewhat animal in style, not the most flattering - soy sauce and grilled meats. It's distinctly high in acidity. A bit gawky, not the most harmonious or balanced vintage for Clape, but it makes up for it with bags of character and real complexity. Drinking Window: 2020-2025. (3/9/20)"

92 points Robert Parker: "A candidate for the wine of the vintage, Clape's 1995 Cornas exhibits an opaque purple color, and a fabulously ripe, sweet nose of licorice, black plums, and cassis, followed by full-bodied, dense, concentrated, well-balanced flavors with nicely integrated acidity and tannin. This should be a 20-year wine. (Oct 1997)"
