93 points William Kelley (Decanter): "The Dominode, which hails from some of the oldest vines in the Côte, is always one of the very best wines in the Clair cellar, and 2016 is no exception. Cropped at a paltry 10hl/ha, the wine offers up a brooding bouquet of wild berries, spice, bitter chocolate and rich earth - as usual it's quite dark-fruited for Savigny. On the palate the wine is very full-bodied, layered and rich, with superb concentration and a cool, solid core of fruit. Like the other Clair wines, this is an uncompromising wine, but patience will be amply rewarded. Drinking Window: 2028-2050. (10/19/17)"

90-93 points/'Outstanding/Top value,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1.7 ha parcel of vines planted in 1902). Here too the aromatic profile is quite cool and pure though in this case it's both riper and more deeply pitched with its blend of red and dark currant, earth and violet scents. The old vines are very much in evidence as there is excellent concentration and an abundance of sap supporting the medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a serious, very firm and built-to-age finish. This slightly rustic effort is fashioned in a no-nonsense style and it's not likely to be a candidate for early drinking. Drink: 2028+. (Jan 2018)"
