94-97 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Mid crimson. Super sensual straight away on the nose. Immediate natural class here, though not the most concentrated Clos St-Jacques. Once again, they seem to have hit the cusp of red and black. A fine long graceful finish. (Nov 2024)"
94-96 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "TThe 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru offers an extremely focused and detailed bouquet with vibrant, mineral-inflected redcurrant and strawberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate features ripe dark cherry and strawberry on the entry, with a hint of vanilla from the oak. It finishes quite linear in style, as if it's holding something back for later. This is one for the patient among you. Drink: 2027-2055. (Jan 2025)"
95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Thoroughly Gevrey on the nose, this starts with damp forest floor, sweet berries and rose petals. Vivid acidity gives this incredible freshness and a firm spine for aging. The simultaneous display of elegance—especially the supple tannins—and power is captivating. Half of these vines were planted in 1957 and the other half in 1972. One of my wines of the year. (Jan 2025)"
93-95 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques offers up aromas of wild berries and plums mingled with orange zest, rose petals and violets. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and lively, with a fleshy core of fruit and sweet structuring tannins, it's another terrific cuvée from this reenergized domaine. (Jan 2025)"
92-95 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines). A wonderfully broad-ranging nose reflects plenty of floral influences along with a lovely array of spice elements on the airy and cool mix of both red and dark berries. The equally cool, pure and relatively dense medium weight flavors coat the palate with sap while displaying impressive depth and persistence on the very firm, compact and unapologetically built-to-age finale. Excellent provided that you have the patience to cellar this for at least a decade. Drink: 2038+. (Jan 2025)"
Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(Planted in 1957, with the same plant material as the Cazetiers, planted by Bruno’s father. ‘Unlike the brother, this can open and close’?) Vertical aromatic but still with some width – a little extra minerality. A more cushioned and rounder and vibrant finishing flavour – more mineral here too. A larger scale to this finish – I would never turn it down, but today I might buy the Cazetiers in preference – life can be hard! (Jan 2025)"
