93-95 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St Jacques has an elegant and refined bouquet, subtle red rose and cold limestone scents infusing the pure, detailed red cherries and strawberry aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile, supple and very fine tannin. This is all about the tension and focus. There is not the body or concentration of a bona fide great vintage, but there is a wonderful, life-affirming sense of minerality on the finish that will leave you grinning like a Cheshire cat (with a penchant for expensive Burgundy). Drink: 2018-2035. (Dec 2015)"

93+ points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "($297 list; 50% new oak): Good bright, dark red. Captivating nose combines raspberry, dried rose petal, peppery herbs and complex soil tones. Pungent salty minerality further energizes the wine's sappy raspberry and blood orange flavors. Surprising for its enveloping texture, this classic, firmly built Clos Saint-Jacques should enjoy a slow and graceful evolution in bottle. Bruno Clair noted that, unusually for an October harvest, this fruit actually continued to ripen by photosynthesis, whereas that late in the season any further ripeness is normally a function of concentration (i.e., essentially loss of water) on the vines. Drink: 2024-2034. (Mar 2017)"

93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines). An elegant and expressive nose exhibits a markedly spicy array of both red and dark pinot fruit, earth and a lovely floral nuance. On the palate the middle weight flavors are notably fine with an abundance of minerality continuing onto the youthfully austere, crunchy and firm finish. I very much like the persistence of this classically styled effort but note well that this is going to require a minimum of a decade plus of cellaring and 15 to 18 years would not surprise me. In a word, excellent. Drink: 2029+. (Oct 2019)"
