The 2012 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St Jacques from Bruno Clair has a delightful, extremely pure bouquet with raspberry and wild strawberry scents with delicate floral notes. The palate is tensile on the entry, tightly wound, bright and lively though it just attenuates a little towards the finish. A restrained nose offers up notes of plum and high-toned red currant liqueur aromas. The delicious, intense and wonderfully refined medium weight flavors brim with both minerality and plenty of mouth coating dry extract before terminating in a driving and beautifully textured finish that displays strikingly good length.
