95-96 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "What beautiful aromas of ripe raspberries and summer flowers this remarkable Gevrey-Chambertin premier cru has. After starting with a charm offensive on the medium-bodied palate, the earthy power of the appellation rises up in the imposing finish, where it makes a bold statement. From a site next to the grand cru Ruchottes-Chambertin. (1/8/25)"

94-96 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Beautiful colour here, a darker crimson, and the fruit is magical. Perfectly on the red and black cusp while the whole bunches add a floral note. The Clos du Fonteny is on terrific form today with a fine balance of acidity to finish, alongside balanced tannins. A fine long aftertaste. (Nov 2024)"

92-94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of sweet red berries, cherries, rose petal and peony introduce the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos du Fonteny, a medium-bodied, satiny and vibrant wine that's fine-boned, succulent and saline. After the more structured 2022, the 2023 wears its heart on its sleeve. (Jan 2025)"

91-94 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .675 ha parcel; this is a monopole). The high-toned and admirably pure nose consists of ultra-fresh red cherry, floral and softly spiced aromas. The racy, intense and beautifully well-detailed medium weight flavors possess a refined, even sophisticated, mouthfeel while delivering outstanding length on the stony, moderately austere and balanced finale. This always ages well and the 2023 version should as well. Drink: 2033+. (Jan 2025)"

93 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Deeply colored, this is equally intense in perfume and structure. Tense, bracketing tannins are reinforced by punchy acidity. The texture feels pleasantly sappy, grainy and mouthcoating on the generous finish flecked with dried flowers, boysenberries and asphalt. This 0.68 ha, clay-rich monopole was half planted in 1972 and half in 1987. (Jan 2025)"

93 points CellarTracker.com community score.

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "A more reticent but silky nose, slowly adding some rose complexity. Supple, silky, melting flavour – a wine that caresses. Wonderful finishing – elegance personified – such class. (Jan 2025)"
