100 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Is the 2019 Château Margaux the wine of the vintage? A strong case in its favor could certainly be made. Soaring from the glass with aromas of blackberries, raspberries, rose petals, violets, pencil shavings and vine smoke, it's full-bodied, layered and sensual, with a strikingly vibrant core of fruit that's framed by ripe, powdery tannins and bright acids, concluding with a penetrating, mouthwateringly saline finish of almost interminable duration. Complex, elegant and utterly compelling, this is a brilliant Bordeaux that anyone with the requisite disposable income is going to want to own. Drink: 2029-2069. (4/7/22)"
100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another utterly heavenly wine from this estate is the 2019 Château Margaux, a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot coming from a selection of just 37% of the total production. Deep purple, with an incredible array of ripe currants, blueberries, sweet tobacco, sandalwood, and toasted spices, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless, powerful, yet incredibly sexy mouthfeel, polished tannins, and a great, great finish. As I wrote in the barrel review, it reminds me slightly of the 2016, but has a touch more sun-kissed profile. It already offers incredible pleasure yet deserves 4-6 years of bottle age and will blow you away any time over the coming 40+ years. Drink: 2026-2063. (8/11/22)"
100 points Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux): "(90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot). A wine that you sink into, drink in the aromatics before taking a sip. You can sense the velvety texture from the first moment. There is so much density here, and yet each tannin plays its part with skill, holding the perfumed black and blue fruits in place without restricting their expression. A signature Château Margaux, with so many different elements lending momentum and energy, and a feeling of effortless balance. 37% of total production, 100% new oak. Loved En Primeur, but this is an upscore. Drink: 2030-2050. (10/26/21)"
100 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (The Wine Independent): "A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Chateau Margaux is deep garnet-purple in color. Classic scents of cassis, plum preserves, pencil shavings, and wild sage leap on the nose, followed by suggestions of underbrush, truffles, and iron ore. The medium to full-bodied palate is elegant and fresh, with firm, grainy tannins and an amazingly long savory finish. Forget this in the cellar for 6-8 years, then watch it produce fireworks for the following 40-years+. Alcohol 13.5%. Drink: 2029-2069. (5/1/23)"
100 points James Suckling: "Amazing aromas of crushed stones and wet soil with fresh mushrooms, then going on to violets and other flowers. Dark fruit, too. Full-bodied, yet agile and fine, with a linear flow of tannins that run through the center of palate. The finesse of the tannins is exceptional, like raw silk and changing all the time. Cool and energetic, yet reserved. Zen-like. 37% of the production and 90% cabernet sauvignon, 7% merlot, 2% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. So well balanced that you can drink it now, but this is one to leave for a decade and more. Ethereal. (1/18/22)"
99 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2019 Château Margaux possesses off the charts richness to go along with plush contours and mind-blowing balance. All the elements are so wonderfully woven together. It's as if all the Château Margaux signatures are dialed up to eleven, but without losing any of the classic Margaux character. The purity of the red-toned fruit is just breathtaking. The Merlot was picked early, but then rain during harvest delayed the ripening of the Cabernets, which turned out to be a huge advantage. Drink: 2029-2069. (Feb 2022)"
99 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "The 2019 grand vin is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon at 90% of the blend, with 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, and it takes 37% of the crop. The only way to describe the first impression on the nose is wow! – the aromatics here striking and evocative, intensely perfumed with rose petals, violets, crushed gravel, damsons and currants, the fruit fresh yet dark and savoury, but it is dominated by that floral character, with just a little sweet oak becoming apparent with time. It feels so elegantly formed on the palate, where it is relaxed, comfortable in its medium-bodied skin, with soft layers of fruit to the fore, then in the middle a slowly building crescendo of tannin which develops more and more energy, gripping the palate with firm intent, wrapping it up in the finish. Composed and fresh, with tingling energy and vivacity, with a dry and savoury length, this is an absolutely ravishing Margaux which exceeds my expectations;indeed I was so blown away by its quality that I left the château having forgotten to note down the alcohol level. A shocking failure on my part, I know. (Dec 2021)"
99 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Château Margaux, bottled in July 2021, is absolutely divine on the nose. It unfurls to reveal exquisitely defined black fruit infused with graphite, Japanese nori and just a hint of potpourri and crushed stone. This is supremely well focused, refined and correct, so much so that you would think it comes from a cooler growing season. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant, filigreed tannins that envelop the senses. Flavors of blackberry and bilberry, tinged with sea salt and black pepper, merge into a slightly more sensual finish that is still quintessentially Margaux. I used the word "effortless" in my note from barrel, and that rings true in bottle, though maybe there is now even more persistence. Quite stunning. Drink: 2029-2065. (Feb 2022)"
