94 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$50 list] This structured wine is firm, with dark tannins that promise aging. The fruit hints at delicious black currant flavors and balanced acidity. It will be a stylish wine, but wait to drink until 2026. Alcohol 13.5%. (May 2021)"

93 points James Suckling: "Blackcurrant, clove, dark chocolate and graphite on the nose. Dried violets, too. It’s medium-bodied with firm, tight tannins. Layered and elegant with pretty floral tones. 45% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot, 10% petit verdot and 5% cabernet franc. Try from 2024. (1/8/21)"

93 points La Revue du Vin de France: "The 2018 is a wine that is very much in keeping with the spirit of the vintage, with beautiful smoothness and refined tannins. The mid-palate is silky and the overall impression is charming. (2022)"

93 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "A blend led by 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, raised in 40% new barrels, the remainder older oak. This takes a little time to get going in the glass, but that causes me absolutely no concern, in fact I find it rather reassuring. It slowly releases scents of blackcurrant, sweetly dried cranberry, currant, bay leaf and thyme, shimmering with dark and focused intensity. The palate happily lives up to expectations, the rich dark fruit here swirled with dried Provençale herbs, and spiced with tobacco, toast and pepper. The structure is pretty full on, with a frame of ripe tannins and fresh acidity. This is a great effort from Chasse-Spleen;it reminds me a little of the 1989 vintage which I always enjoyed. (Feb 2021)"

92 points Jane Anson (Decanter): "Thoroughly enjoyable, with the high powered black fruit and smoked oak that is a signature of Chasse-Spleen and that gives huge promise as to how well this wine will age. 5% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. Drinking Window: 2024-2040. (11/10/20)"

92 points Peter Moser (Falstaff): "Deep dark ruby, purple reflections, delicate bright rim. Delicate red berry layer, ripe wild berries, candied orange zest, a hint of ripe strawberries, inviting bouquet. Juicy, round and harmonious, fresh cherries, integrated tannins, mineral finish, a versatile food wine. (5/23/19)"
