96 points (18/20) Bettane & Desseauve Guide (2016).

92-94 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "Bright red. Sexy, high-toned aromas of strawberry, raspberry, crushed-stone minerality, rose petal and truffle, complicated by an exotic suggestion of white fruits (Claude de Nicolay compared it to a riesling!). Wonderfully perfumed and stylish, with bright acidity giving definition and lift to the strawberry and rose petal flavors, with the exotic quality carrying through in the mouth. More youthfully imploded than the Bressandes, but the tannins arrive late, allowing the wine's perfume to fill the mouth and linger. Drink: 2024-2039. (Jan 2015)"

91-94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2013 Clos du Roi had also finished its malo and was showing fairly well in mid-December. The nose wafts from the glass in a black fruity, but also quite minerally constellation of black cherries, dark plums, cocoa, gamebirds, woodsmoke, violets and fresh rosemary. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and quite plush on the attack, with a fine core, ripe tannins and a fine spine of minerality running from the attack all the way to the close on the long and nascently complex finish. 2023-2060. (Nov/Dec 2014)"

91-94 points/'Sweet spot,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(this has the highest average vine age of these grands crus at 40+ years of age). Reduction. As it almost always is, this is the biggest wine in the range with plenty of size, weight and power to the big-bodied and mineral-driven flavors that possess excellent complexity on the tight, structured and very serious finale. Once again the mouth feel is firm but not hard though make no mistake, this bad boy is expressly intended to cellar for the long-term. Drink: 2028+. (Apr 2015)"

93 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "Enticing aromas of sandalwood, cedar, green olive and spice mark this red. Wild cherry and berry flavors add to the mix as this cruises to a long, spice-filled aftertaste. There's a light grain to the tannins, but this should develop beautifully. Best from 2019 through 2032. 70 cases made. (5/31/16)"
