93-95 points and 'Sweet spot,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(this has the highest average vine age of these grands crus at 40+ years of age). This is especially ripe, indeed to the point where there are notes of dry Porto yet, almost incongruously, it seems fresh. There are also notes of spice, animale and cassis-liqueur, all of which can be found on the rich, powerful and impressively concentrated flavors that brim with dry extract that renders the particularly firm tannins almost invisible. This deceptive amiability will not last for long though as the hallmark austerity is already apparent and this is going to require close to 20 years to fully realize its considerable potential. (May 2011)"

92-95 points Fine Wine Review: "The Corton-Clos-du-Roi is from vines that are about 50 years-old on white soils. The grapes were not destemmed in 2009. The wine is truffly and floral in the nose, and truffly, round, spicy, and dense in the mouth with finesse. Moving to the whites, they were all picked on the mornings of 10-12 September. (Issue #133; 2011)"

93-94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2009 Clos du Roi is deep, ripe, closed and structured at the present time, but shows excellent potential. The reticent nose delivers a fine mélange of red and black cherries, grilled meat, coffee, bonfires and a very complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very, very fresh, with a rock solid core of fruit, firm tannins and outstanding length and grip on the complex and still very youthful finish. This will be excellent in the fullness of time, but it was not quite as on form at the time of my visit as the Bressandes. 2020-2060+. (Nov/Dec 2010)"
