99 points International Wine Report: "The 2022 Cayuse Cailloux Vineyard Syrah is a mesmerizing, near-perfect expression of the variety, co-fermented with 6% Viognier and aged for 18 months in predominantly neutral puncheons. This vintage unveils an intoxicating aromatic profile where boysenberry, jasmine flowers, orange blossom, and candied ginger intertwine with smoked brisket, black olive tapenade, and black plums. The palate is supple yet vibrant, unfolding layers of ripe blackberries, charred herbs, and dark cocoa framed by an underlying stony minerality. Silky tannins and refined acidity provide structure, carrying the wine through an expansive, deeply nuanced finish. Hauntingly complex and beautifully textured, this Syrah is already showing remarkable finesse yet will continue to evolve over the next decade or more. 870 cases made. Highly recommended and editor’s choice. Drink 2025-2038 (Feb 2025)"

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "From ungrafted vines planted in 1997, the 2022 Syrah Cailloux Vineyard is the only Syrah that Christophe Baron co-ferments with Viognier, in this case 6%, bringing a lift to the wine without becoming sweet. Potent spicy black cherry, crushed gravel, and black tea ride a focused, precise palate of medium-bodied intensity that’s dark, spicy, and feral, lengthy and dense, with a freshness to the long finish. Drink now through 2042. (Jul 2025)"

96 points James Suckling: "Complex and tightly wound, this syrah, co-fermented with just a dash of viognier, offers a broad spectrum of aromas. Smoked meat, black olives, crushed violets and thyme are layered with blackberries and a hint of iodine. The palate is deep and structured, balancing juicy acidity with fine but broad and dusty tannins. The savory finish lingers, showing cracked pepper and turned earth. Very tight and compact, this needs some time in bottle. From biodynamically grown grapes. Try from 2028. (Mar 2025)"

95 points & 'Highly Recommended' Wine Spectator: "Shows presence and detail, offering compelling flavors of raspberry and blueberry that draw in licorice, garrigue, crushed stone and black olive accents as this gathers richness and tannins on the finish. Drink now through 2034. 870 cases made. (Aug 2025)"
