100 points / 'Top 50 of Italy’s Best Wines,' Luca Gardini: "The culmination of Paolo Panerai's project, from Sangioveto and Malvasia Nera. Blueberry jam and Mediterranean shrubs on the nose, in the mouth there’s savory tannins and a balsamic finish."

98 points Falstaff Guide: "Rich, flint ruby with a slightly pale rim. Opens clear and deep on the nose, plums and blackberries, plus subtle smoky notes, some cardamom. Firm and sturdy on the palate, shows a lot of dense tannin, builds, lots of plum, long finish. .(2/10/23)"

97 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "[$120 list] The 2018 I Sodi di San Niccolò is the most elegant Sodi I have ever tasted, and I have tasted them all. Sodi can be quite the bruiser in its youth, as the tannins are often imposing, but the 2018 is impressive because there is more than enough fruit to balance things out. Dark cherry, plum, lavender, spice and gravel build in a Sodi endowed with mind-blowing purity and exceptional finesse. Superb! Drinking Window: 2026-2043. (Jul 2022)"

96 points Georgina Hindle (Decanter): "Lovely abundance and expression on the nose, you get that perfect clarity of fruit - black fruits and blackcurrant laced with violets. Strong, round and rich - this is densely concentrated with power and punch. Gorgeous texture - dry with firm firm tannins and a direct fruit profile - tension and linearity yet there's plushness and ripeness here too. It's round yet direct but also sweet and succulent. I love that immediately juicy perfumed hit you get on the tongue, such brightness and energy here, the sweet red cherry edge is so delicious. Supremely charming but also fun, such playfulness going on with the flavours and the textures. 85% Sangiovetto, 15% Malvasia. Alcohol 14%. Drinking Window: 2023-2041. (Feb 2022)"

Three Glasses (Tre Bicchieri) Gambero Rosso: "The 2018 version of the I Sodi di San Niccolò stands out for its lovely elegance and gynamism, finding its strong point in a reactive, flavorful palate."
