97 points Ian D'Agata Wine Review: "Luminous medium-pale red. Drop-dead gorgeous aromas of redcurrant, sour red cherry, crystallized violet, and tangerine peel on the nose, lifted by rose and cinnamon. Boasts captivating inner-mouth perfume to its sour rede cherry, strawberry reduction, tangerine nectar, candied violet and peach flavours, complicated by hints of tobacco and iron. The aftertaste is long flinty0-mineral and remarkably pure, featuring repeating notes of creamy strawberry and an emerging note of lemon peel. Unlike Canonica’s Paiagallo wine that is all about size and creamy breadth, Canonica’s Barolo del Comune di Grinzane Cavour is all about perfume and verticality. It’s a marvelous Barolo that speaks well not just of Canonica’s talent but of the importance of having old vines of authentic Nebbiolo Rosé with which to make Barolo. (Canonica inherited these old vines in the 2010s; located just outside of the Borzone cru of the Grinzane Cavour territory, about half of the vineyard is made up of the by now-rare, high-quality Nebbiolo Rosé variety.) Drinking window: 2029-2036. (May 2025)"
