95 points Luis Gutierrez (Wine Advocate): "They have now realized that the vineyard used for the red formerly known as La Verdad Gualtallary is in reality across the Las Tunas River, and therefore technically in San Pablo, so the wine will be renamed to 2016 La Verdad San Pablo, which is also the name of a white they started producing from this same place in 2017 (but which now has the word 'Blanco' added to its name in our database to distinguish between the two wines). This is a co-fermentation of Malbec and Cabernet Franc from a cool place in a cool year, and it tends to be my favorite of the range. It shows the austere combination of place and climate; it's not really fruit driven but more about the soils. This is serious and austere, with elegance and power, lots of energy and a long, tasty and mineral finish. 6,000 bottles were filled in August 2017. Drink: 2019-2026. (Oct 2019)"
93 points James Suckling: "Rich fruit presence here with a very impressively saturated and pure core of pristine dark plums and blackcurrants. Seamless tannins carve long and even. Drink or hold. (3/27/19)"
